Hungary is located in Central Europe, in the Carpathian Basin, bordered by Slovakia to the north, Ukraine to the north-east, Romania to the east, Serbia and Croatia to the south, Slovenia to the south-west and Austria to the west.
50% of the country is flat land. The territory of Hungary can be divided into 6 major landscapes based on natural factors: Great Plain, Little Plain, Transdanubian Central Highlands, Transdanubian Hills, Alpine Lowlands, Northern Central Highlands. The Great Plain is Hungary's most characteristic and largest area. Hungary's two major rivers are the Danube and the Tisza. Lake Balaton is the largest lake in Central Europe.
Hungary has a continental climate. The hottest month is July, with an average temperature of 21.7 °C. Annual precipitation is 500-550 mm in the central part of the lowlands and 600-800 mm in the central mountainous region.
NextIts international airport is Liszt Ferenc Airport in Budapest. All motorways and some expressways are toll roads and can be used with a prepaid E-vignette. E-vignettes can be purchased at major petrol stations and border crossing points. The receipts must be kept for one year.
